You can always count on the British press guys. Featuring a very cool silver gloss cover (which unfortunatly is hardly scanable) the UK starts celebrating STAR WARS already. The cover headline promises ´unseen archive pics!´ - well and indeed you find some of the rares seen moments of SW history. Good job!

Just like SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE (back in 1995) Lucasfilm is planning a new STAR WARS media event this year - read all cool new merchandising stuff (books, game, figures) without a movie ;-) I´m fine with that and STAR WARS: The force unleashed looks like a pretty cool concept - can´t wait! starwars.com has just posted a very interesting feature of a book covering the ONE AND ONLY RALPH McQUARRIE !Finally the man behind all the those classic STAR WARS artworks gets a book covering and honoring all of his outstanding work! And best of all you can get a signed copy from the man himself! Gee, I´m a lucky guy! Remember Ralph was the one who painted the very first STAR WARS images (after discussions with George) as well as most of the production paintings for Episode IV, V and VI!Limited to a total print run of 2000 copies, most of these will be a clothbound edition with dust jacket and printed slipcase that will retail for $125. A few ( 250 copies ) will include an additional illustrated page signed by McQuarrie, prequel concept designer Doug Chiang, and ILM's Ken Ralston, and will be fitted into a special cloth slipcase.Finally there is a high end deluxe edition for $ 750 - well, I´m totally happy with the signed version - can´t wait until the release date in April!To order visit the official website from Ralph McQuarrie itself... worth a visit!

Ok, ok - that´s obviously something you did know already, but... anyhow - I think it´s worth mentioning here! 30rty years! Boy, I JUST WENT TO THE CINEMA TO WATCH ´A NEW HOPE´ and now??? 3 decades of pure space opera fun - thank you George! And time is running ... Jubiliees are always good! I hope the publishing world will honor this outstanding anniversary with loads of new saga coverage! After a very quiet 4th quarter in 2006 my expectitions are a lot higher for this year. Let´s see...
HMV features R2-D2 and C-3Po on the cover of their September issue. Actually this is the first (!) magazine feature about the 2006 DVD release of the movies I have found so far :-( I expected far more advertising and reviews - IF there is more coverage, please don´t hestiate to report here!

The other LUCASFILM heavyweight franchise INDIANA JONES gets a very special treatment with the current issue of UKs EMPIRE magazine. Besides the great special, EMPIRE celebrates the movies with 3(4) covers, each dedicated to one movie. The fourth cover is only availbale to subscribers. Well done, EMPIRE!
Let´s hope INDY 4 will be worth the wait...
Recently Rolling Stone (the US Edition) celebrated it´s 1000 issue! Congratulations from SWM! So what has Rock´n Roll and STAR WARS in common? A lot! - and especially RS covering the STAR WARS saga. These guys had a STAR WARS cover for each and every movie released - starting in 1977 - makes a total of 6 covers so far. And now at their very special anniversary? They did it again. Okay not a SW cover - might be too far off the topic, but at least they celebration cover features our most favourite villian: DARTH VADER. You see - Rolling Stone means pop & rock culture!
